About Topplers.org
Topplers.org (formally toplers.com) is a production of Topplers, a non-profit organization founded in 2008 with a mission to impact the world by inspring, educating, and motivating people to "Set Big Things in Motion." We are supported by private donations, and governed by a volunteer board of directors, and not affiliated with any religious, cultural, or government organizations.
The website started a personal project of our founder Herb Morreale. It is now under going a major overhaul, and the new site will be launched in 2009. The site as it stands is a working prototype and allows people to register dominoes, set dominoes them in motion ("tip them"), build topples, track topples, and generally learn how to be an effective "Toppler."
About Domino Theory
Domino Theory is a framework for "Setting Big Things in Motion." It helps people understand that no matter how large or small your hopes and dreams are, you can meet them by seeing the world around you as a set of dominoes. Sometimes the dominoes need to be "set up", other times the dominoes are just waiting to be tipped over. Either way, one tip leads to the next, and before long something big is happening. No longer will you be saying to yourself, "Oh, I just can't make a difference so why try." All it takes is one small strategic action.
How Dominos Move From Person to Person
The idea behind the Topplers website is to help people track their impact by passing uniquely numbered dominos from person to person. Here's how it works:- Person 'A' passes a domino to Person 'B'.
- The domino is registered to the new owner (Person 'B').
- Person 'B' learns about the history of the domino and it's "purpose" (how to keep the topple going).
- Person 'B' "TIPS" the domino (passes it on).
- When the domino is registered by the next person (Person 'C'), Person 'B' confirms the registration.
- Everyone feels good about keeping the topple in motion!
